Over the weekend you will learn to use willow to make a round basket. A strong handle will be added.|
This is a great class for complete beginners and also for those who have done some basketmaking before and who really want to get to grips with basic basketry/willowweaving skills and maybe learn a couple of new techniques.
Beginners will learn how to make a base, upset and weave the sides of a basket, turn down the border, add and wrap a handle for the basket if wanted.
Improvers will be able to refine the above skills as well as learn a different method of upsetting and learn a new/different side weave.
There will be a maximum of five people in this class at my studio so you will be able to get the attention needed to hone your skills. There will also be an opportunity to learn about and see first hand how willow is soaked and prepared.
Tea and coffee and biscuits/snacks are provided. There is a local pub where you could buy lunch or else you are welcome to bring your own to eat in the workshop or outside.
All materials are included in the price and all tools needed are provided.
